The Biomedical Engineering course offered in Hindi at Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) has faced challenges, with the 2023 batch being dissolved for the second year in a row. All nine students from the 2023 batch have switched to the English-medium program, raising concerns about the future of the Hindi program. The introduction of the Hindi-language Biomedical Engineering course in 2022 aimed to cater to regional language education needs but has struggled to attract students. Despite efforts to support the Hindi program, students have opted for the English-medium course, leaving the Hindi program without any students for two consecutive years. SGSITS is the only institution in the country offering Biomedical Engineering in Hindi, but it has faced a lack of demand in Madhya Pradesh. The urge to stray from the path due to pressure from peers or expectations from parents regarding studying in English may result in branches feeling itchy. Despite the lack of Biomedical Engineering books in Hindi, the college faculty translated the course materials into Hindi and provided study notes for students in order to support the BTech in Biomedical Engineering program in Hindi. Despite initial challenges, the college is devoted to encouraging and empowering the 12 new students enrolled in this year's Biomedical Engineering program. Dr. Vijay Rode, the director of SGSITS, emphasized that the course was tailored for students from Hindi-speaking backgrounds or rural areas, dispelling the misconception that studying in Hindi reduces job placement opportunities. The new batch is being guided and assured of future job placements.
